Central Texans targeted by phone scams

A phone scam has made its way to central Texas. The Better Business Bureau says the callers are claiming to be a debt collection agency for U.S. Cash Advance, that's a payday loan company based out of Kentucky.

After a man is choked to death outside a Central Texas bar in 2008, the bar is now being shut down as a result of that homicide.

Texas today: Heights police probe Wednesday shooting

Harker Heights police are investigating a shooting that happened Wednesday morning. The incident occurred at about 6 a.m. in the 200 block of West Cardinal Lane. One man was reportedly shot in the chest. His injuries were described as non-life threatening, according to a police report.

The Harker Heights volleyball team took last weekend off. While everyone else was playing their third tournament, the Lady Knights pulled out of the Aransas Pass Tournament following new travel boundaries set by the Killeen Independent School District athletic department before the school year.
